June 14 to July 14 2024

Between the kick-off of the opening match in Munich and the final match in Berlin, the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf is inviting people to take part in activities related to EURO 2024. Together with a wide range of cooperation partners, the Education for Sustainable Development team has put together an educational program that offers Berliners and guests suitable activities on the topic of “Sport & Sustainability”.

Even before the opening match in Munich kicks off, the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf invites you to “Let’s make it a A Good Game” – a program all about the 2024 European Football Championship. The district’s jersey number is No. 17 – because the program at four locations in the district is all about the 17 sustainability goals and their implementation locally and globally. Environmental City Councillor Oliver Schruoffeneger, together with Lidia Perico, Head of the Education for Sustainable Development Unit, will open the diverse program with a symbolic jersey exchange, to which all interested parties are cordially invited. Throughout the entire European Championship, visitors can swap their jersey for a jersey on the long sustainability rope. The focus is on soccer, sustainability, fairness and international understanding. These themes are also reflected in the offers and events at bauhaus reuse. The bauhaus reuse is also one of the sales locations for the district’s “Dit is Müsli” project. In addition to table football and an urban gardening project, there is also a photo wall in front of the Berlin backdrop.

  • Broadcast of the opening match between Germany and Scotland afterwards

In the opening match of the European Men’s Football Championship, the German team will face Scotland, one of the mother countries of modern soccer. The second oldest soccer association in the world was founded here. The fans of the national team have made a name for themselves worldwide as the Tartan Army. Soccer in Scotland is Celtic versus Rangers, Hearts versus Hibs, Aberdeen versus Dundee United and when the mascot of Partick Thistle prevails against the constant rain.
We want to invite you to find out more about soccer and fan culture in the northern part of the island of Great Britain.
